Whats the first thing Scout finds in the knothole on the Radley property? Whats the second thing? What does this mean? Who would put these items in the tree?

The first thing the children find is a ball of twine.... the second things they find are two figurines. The gifts are a token of friendship from Boo. Leaving the gifts is Boo's way of communicating his friendship.
