To Kill a Mockingbird
Which aspects or parts of the last scene or or parts in the book were symbolic?
How do these parts help to leave readers thinking about the themes of the book overall?

In the last scene, Scout falls asleep in her father's lap, which serves to remind us that she is still a little girl, and that she continues to believe in the inherent goodness of "folks." Her father's lap is a symbol of love, protection, and family.
