Scout thought Mayella was "the lonliest person in the world."
Just to elaborate, Scout felt that Mayella was a victim. She saw that Mayella was alone on the stand and clearly manipulated and used by her father in the worst ways possible. Mayella is sad, depressed and completely alone.
