Why do you think Harper Lee juxtaposes Hitler's persecution of the Jews with the events of To kill a mockingbird.?

Harper Lee is trying to expose the hypocrisy and ignorance of racism. People like Scout's teacher can condemn the actions of Hitler while, in the same breath, condone the persecution of blacks in her own town.
