How virginia Woolf has used the technique of stream of consciousness in novel?

Stream-of-consciousness is the style used first by Virginia Wolfe. Instead of following a chronological and linear story, it tells the story more as it occurs to the narrator. It stems from a feeling that the writer is "in the moment" and that you are witnessing raw unfettered emotion.

This style allows the subjective mental processes of the character to define her feelings and motivations. To the Lighthouse (1927) is considered one of her most experimental works. So, for example, we notice the passage of time through the narrator's emotions rather than simply using clocks or time pieces.
