How is this book a 'coming of age' novel?

Cole has to come to terms with his anger and other issues.Many of his emotional issues are connected to teen angst of growing up. Cole's issues of parental abandonment, loss of control, resentment....make Cole's journey into young adulthood even more precarious. It is not until Cole matures emotionally and spiritually that he comes of age.
