Chapter 2

Their argument has something to do with a "hanging." We are told little else in this chapter.

They argue about giving the map away.Bill says something about hanging,which we could say that he was saying that if he gives the map away he might be hanged for betrayal of a dead man.

That was just a possible solution.One solution could could be that Black dog was about to give the black spot to bill when he sayed that if he gets the black spot he might die suddenly or get hanged.(The black spot is a curse).
