Has the character Jim changed in the course of the novel so far?

This really depends at what point you are referring to. By the end, Jim is more mature. He is weary of pirates bearing gifts and being friendly. Jim understands human nature better. He is also not the timid boy that he used to be. He is more outgoing and assertive.
