Black Dog arrives at Jim's to gain information at the least and possibly hurt Billy if he doesn't get what he came for. None-the-less, his behavior toward Jim is that of a gentleman. He calls Jim "sonny", which would be considered a familiar term, but Jim also defines the way Black Dog looks at him as a form of "leering", possibly ominous. Black Dog was pleasant as ong as Jim did as he asked..... and somewhat threatening when he didn't.
