Why does Jim not like Captain Smollett? in chapter 9.

I think that Jim looks up to Squire Trelawney. The Squire is young,of high regard and social standing and an adventurer. Squire Trelawney dislikes Captain Smollett so Jim does not like the Captain either. THe Captain is also putting a gloom over the big adventure (with all his complaining) before it even begins.
