Evidence that Minnie Wright killed her husband

Mrs. Wright has apparently murdered her husband because the reader is privy to the canary in the pretty box. The bird had its neck wrung. This is similar to the way Mr. Wright was murdered: a suitable payback for the death of her beloved bird?

"...he was a hard man....Like a raw wind that gets to the bone......I should think she would've wanted a bird!"
