The canary- the dead bird in the cage represents Minnie's confined life after she married John. She used to sing and be free but, after marriage, she was in a prison and her joy died.

Quilt- The hastily done quilt represents Minnie's incomplete spirit and disturbed home life with John.

Messy Kitchen- This represents Minnie's messy and chaotic home life.
