Explain Morrie’s idea of “detachment.” What does “detachment” mean to Morrie and how does he use it to cope with his disease?

Morrie does not let his disease cripple his emotions. He remains detached, as much as he can, from his disease and concentrates on other things. ALS cannot rob Morrie of his spirit. The only physical obstacle that Morrie laments about is needing help to go to the washroom.
