In Tuesdays with Morrie, why is the chapter called "Taking Attendance"?

"Taking Attendance" directly relates to Mitch's reunion with his beloved teacher, and Morrie's desire to teach him one last thing..... about death. Thus, the teacher is taking attendance to see if his student is with him..... to see if he's ready and willing to be there for the final lectures he feels the need to teach.
