How are male and female slaves treated similarly and/or differently?

Male and female slaves were purchased for different reasons. Females were valuable because of their feritility, and although they often did the same jobs as men (working in the fields), they were often put to work in the household. When it came to punishment, women, like men, were whipped. Unlike the men, they were also raped.
