What devices does he use to give credibility to his narrative?

Northup uses various literary devices in order to prove that his accounts of slavery are true. He is descriptive and specific in his writing. He exposes slavery the reality among certain ethnicities using factual and provable inflormation, in addition to sharing his own experiences.
