What happened to the rusties civilization?

The rusties civilization had fallen to it's demise after an "oil plauge." Bsically, someone had found a way to put diseases in the oil that was being used by the Rusties. Why this was so major was because the people [Rusties] were too dependent on the oil to avoid said plauge.
