What work does Tally end up doing at the smoke in part 2?

Tally ends up working with Shay and David (and mostly like a few others like Croy and Astriex [I believe that's how you spell it]) pulling up railroads from the ground. They do this job so that way they can create hoverboard paths in and around the valley.
