Uncle Tom's Cabin

How is Hayley treated? Why does Stowe develop his characters as she does? How does he fit into the economy of slavery?

Haley is feared by the slaves. He really personifies the soulless slave trader. Stowe develops his characters as a sort of benchmark of evil that other characters must react to and are articulated through the book. Hayley represents the handling commodity in human trafficking. He is really a ghastly individual.
