St. Clair is torn over the subject of slavery. He is the kind master. Over the course of the chapter in which St. Clair is highlighted, we see a main torn and looking for religion, for faith..... for reasons.He doesn't beat and punish his slaves because he sees then as people.... as human beings. Before his death, St. Clair intend to free Tom. Unfortunately, his wife doesn't think the same way.
