Mimicry in untouchable

I think the colonial point of view had the same view of most Indians regardless of caste. They were simply Indians and they were British. There were of course highly educated Indians who spent time in Britain but the colonial view of them was still filled with a sense of otherness. I think, if anything, untouchables were treated much better by the British than they were by their own countrymen. By the end of British occupation, the British had a much better understanding of the caste system. They along with influential leaders like Mahatma Gandhi denounced this practice.

I think we need to juxtapose the British view of the caste system with Britains own very rigid class system as well.
