War hose

Although most people consider this a war novel, I concede there is a war, but find the main theme to be the experiences of Joey..... the war horse. In my opinion, nationalism is portrayed from both sides.... the English and the Germans. In addition, we see this portrayal through the eyes of the innocent..... the war horse who cannot choose sides, and sees the soldiers in both uniforms as being incomprehensible of their purpose. When Joey is trapped in No Man's Land, he is savied by soldiers on both side..... soldiers working together for one purpose without malice. Men with far more in common than the differences that divide them.
