Billy wants some dogs really badly. Specifically, Billy wants hunting dogs. Unfortunately his parents have no money. They would love to get Billy his puppies but they are simple farm folk and money is tight. Billy decides to earn this money at any cost. Billy does numerous jobs and waits years before he has the money. The dogs are very much a part of Billy's identity even before he gets them. The bond he envisions with these dogs pales in comparison to the bond he actually develops once he gets them.
