how will the coon trap that grandpa tells billy about ,work? did it work for billy?

Grandpa says Billy needs a brace  and some nails. He tells Billy to fasten nails along the shaft, so the raccoon can get his hand in .When the coon  grabs the shiny object he is stuck. Billy points out right away the flaw in the trap that the coons will just let go of the shiny thing. Billy sets 14 traps but gets nothing.
