How effective is the stimulus in raising public awareness about the issues presented in 'Wonder?'

This question calls for your opinion. In terms of the novel, I know a few teachers who have added "Wonder" to their curriculum in order to promote awareness in their classrooms. Bullying and self-confidence have been major components in their lessons. I'm not sure about Treacher Collins Syndrome, as far as I know it has not been a major focus.
