Why is Julian so mean to August?

i read the whole book 3 times but i never knew why julian is so mean to August. I know August has a facial "problem" but why is he so mean the whole school already got over it is he just jealous or something that makes him so rude and cold hearted?

Julian is man and cruel. We never get an explanation for why he is the way he is.... just that he is mean-spirited. Possibly, Julian just wants attention. Let's face it, he is a liar, he's manipulative, and he enjoys making other people feel bad. To top it off..... his actions are blatant. He doesn't hide the fact he's a jerk..... he announces it.
