Giovanni falls in love; his character would be considered a good.
Baglioni isn't exactly a good guy, but he really isn't a bad guy either. It's hard to tell whether his warnings to Giovanni are sincere or for the right reason, but we never really know, and his warnings are warranted.
Rapaccini cares for no one by himself. He stands willing to sacrifice anything, including his daughter in order to gain knowledge.
