why does Ann just leave the valley forever?

at the very end of the story ann tricks Mr Lumis into meetig her by the edge of the vallley, instead she takes the safe suit and the wagon and just leaves the valley forever

Ann has been having strange dreams. She envisions people needing her help, she thinks she needs to share her skills for survival. Ann decides she must leave the valley and find these people. Mr. Loomis is being creepier than ever. He tries to trick her into coming out into the open. This only strengthens her resolve to leave the valley.
