11 September 2001 Character List

George W. Bush

George W. Bush was President of the United States during the attacks on September 11th. He was at an elementary school in Sarasota, Florida reading a book for first graders when he was notified of the attacks on the Twin Towers. In the play, he is shown and level-headed and determined, but also slow to react to the tragic events of that day. President Bush visited two military bases before addressing the nation about the attack and what steps the country would take to prevent and deter terrorism in the future.

Andrew Card

Andrew Card was the White House Chief of Staff during the terrorist attacks in New York City. He was responsible for deciding whether to inform the president while he was at the elementary school, and ultimately the individual who relayed the critical information to President George W. Bush. The famous words he said, "America is under attack," will forever be etched in the history of this nation as a transition and change in era.

John Paul DeVito

John Paul DeVito was working in one of the towers when the building was attacked, and it is unclear whether it is a fictitious or actual name. He was a manager at his office and had just talked to a client when he was thrown into a folder and his cup of coffee. He is described as scared and injured, especially since he is propelled out of his chair by the impact of the plane on his building.

Dorene

Dorene is a helpful and determined woman who seeks to aid those in her office who are in need of help. In her office, a woman on the 78th floor was burning alive so she helped drag her to safety by wrapping a sweater around her waist. People respected Dorene and allowed her to pass, enabling Dorene to escape the building after around 20 minutes.

Arturo Domingo

Arturo Domingo works at Morgan Stanley and described the situation of evacuation as one of quiet fear. His personality seemed to be fearful yet he displayed himself as level-headed.

Harry Ramos

Harry Ramos worked with John Paul DeVito and was in the same building with him when it began to lean and sway. Ramos was the chief trader on the office floor and hung onto a door frame as the building lurched and rolled.

Rudolph Giuliani

Rudy Giuliani was the mayor of New York City during the fateful attacks of 9/11. He was responsible for leading the NYPD response to the attacks on the buildings as well as shutting down New York airspace. Rudy Giuliani asked residents of New York to evacuate from certain areas.
