To engage the principles of architecture using Orwell's prose descriptions.

Structure:

Review Orwell's descriptions of buildings and landscapes in London, particularly in Chapter 1. Discuss these descriptions with students. What do they imagine that the landscape of London in Airstrip One would look like? Show pictures of 1945's London and today's London: how might Orwell's London look the same, and how different?
