    Reenacting the Dinner Scene

    Students will reenact the story's dinner scene to further explore its contribution to the story as a whole.

    Structure:

    Begin the activity by having students return to the tense dinner scene in which Joan and Richard share the news of the separation. A dinner scene like this is a common trope in both literature and film. What are some of the key moments of the dinner? How does it advance the plot? What is the overall tone of the scene?
