    Students will stop to think deeply about Ignatius' humorous contradictions

    Structure:

    Part of the novel's humor comes from Ignatius' unique form of iconoclasm. With almost every word and action, he subverts normal expectations of behavior. In this activity, students will take time to look closely at Ignatius' actions and reactions beyond the initial shock and humor they elicit in order to question why he does what he does.
