    Group Work

    Objective:

    Students will examine the different themes present in the stories and will create a storyboard to visualize and explain them.

    Structure:

    In this activity, the students will examine specific themes found throughout the stories in the collection, and create storyboards to help visually represent these ideas.

    Briefly review with the class what a theme is.

    Theme: The central ideas, messages, or lessons present in a given work. Common themes include love, death, and good vs. evil. Have the students offer examples of themes that seem to be running throughout the book (immigration, racism, community, etc.).
