A Hologram For the King Background

A Hologram for the King is a 2012 fiction novel by the acclaimed American novelist Dave Eggers. This book was first published in 2012 by McSweeney's, an independent publishing company that was founded by Eggers himself. The novel follows the story of a failing American businessman who embarks on a journey of last resort to Saudi Arabia in an attempt to rebuild his business and save his family.

Eggers's narrative was well received by critics and was nominated for an Andrew Carnegie Medal in 2013; it was also a finalist for the National Book Award for fiction in 2012. The novel was also adapted to the screen in 2016 by Lionsgate and starred Tom Hanks as the main character.
