Consider Kafka's other work, including The Metamorphosis, In the Penal Colony, The Trial, and short stories like "The Judgment" and "Josephine the Singer."
Many existentialist writers considered themselves inspired by Kafka; students might want to look at the work of such authors as Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre. Equally, some of his toying with the absurd inspired absurdist writers like playwright Eugene Ionesco and Dany Laferriere.
