brazenly

Boldly and audaciously.

scabbard

The sheath into which the blade of a sword is carried.

damask

A thick woven fabric with a pattern visible on both sides.

inquisitively

Keenly curious; interrogatively; characterized by questioning that expands upon each answer.

incredulous

Absolutely disbelieving.

misshapen

Grotesquely deformed; a physical malformation.

chalice

An ornate goblet; a grail, though not necessarily holy.

morrow

The buttcrack of dawn.

threadbare

Tattered and shopworn; scruffy, frayed and in generally bad shape, usually but exclusively applied to clothing.

hauberk

Defensive armor which originally covered protected just the neck and shoulders, but eventually came to resemble an entire suit of armor.

sigil

A stamped seal of identification.

canter

To trot or gallop at a slow pace.

sullen

Surly and morose with more than a hint of latent potential for belligerance.

beseech

An entreaty; to implore as if begging, but without the associated level of subservience.

queerly

In a peculiar or eccentric manner.

palfrey

A even-tempered horse often provided for the exclusive use of women before the Industrial Revolution.

troupe

A group of traveling performers.

plausible

Believable and creditable; logically persuasive.

valiant

Brave and chivalrous.

morose

Glum, melancholy and down in the dumps.

postern

An alternative entrance located to the side or in the back.
