Turning away
Power argues that the world is quick to offer support when powerful countries like America suffer a crisis; however, various countries "turn away" when other countries such as Armenia or Rwanda face a crisis.
Political inaction
Power suggests that Presidents have committed "considered political inaction," which has resulted in the deaths of millions of people. However, they did not receive any punishment or loss of support because of this.
A helping hand
Power acknowledges that America ironically received a lot of support from other countries after 9/11, despite the fact it had not offered the same support to other countries through the 20th century.
The irony of America
Although the US is often seen as a powerful and benevolent country throughout history, due to the support it gave during the World Wars, Power argues that they failed many countries during the 20th Century due to a failure to condemn various genocides.
The irony of "never again"
Power argues that Western countries who promised an event like the holocaust would not happen again, allowed genocides to happen in other countries.
