Prince Aldogern

Prince Aldogern was a British aristocrat and a brilliant military leader. The prince lost a battle to the General Palinus of Rome and as a result he was taken as a prisoner of war to Rome with his daughter Alda.

Alda

Alda was a British princess who was taken to Rome as a prisoner of war. She was put under the care of Lelia in a Roman household. Alda was converted to Christianity by her friend Susanna. She had an unbreakable spirit that helped her endure slavery in the hands of the Romans. Alda escaped captivity and lived in the Italian forests for a while. She was later captured and killed in the amphitheater in Rome for converting to Christianity.

Susanna

Susanna was a Hebrew girl and a christian who had been sold into slavery by her uncle. Susanna was of a very calm mind and very helpful to the other slaves in the household of Marcus. She converted Alda to Christianity and taught her in the faith. Susanna later died of an illness.

Lelia

Lelia was the daughter of Marcus Lelius. She was the mistress of all captured female slaves like Susanna and Alda. In her capacity, she was inhumane to them and treated them very harshly. In a twist of fate, she lost her position and fled to the mountains with her father. Here they met Alda who converted them to the christian faith. She was later killed in the Rome Amphitheater together with the other Christians.

Pomponia

Pomponia was a free woman in the household of Marcus Lelius. She was a christian and when she found out that Alda was also a Christian, she wanted to buy her freedom but she was refused by Marcus. She was later persecuted for being a Christian.
