Kathleen Winter is a novelist and short story writer who was born in 1960 in the north of England. One of her most prominent works, Annabel, was published in 2010 and is regarded as a daring and pathbreaking novel.
This novel was published by House of Anansi Press and chronicles the birth and life of an intersex child who is born in 1968, a time when no one really understood what that was. It traces the maturation of the protagonist and lends a voice to a marginalized comminty.
