Please write a statement explaining your interest in attending law school.
Adolescent boys hurl Molotov cocktails at uniformed soldiers. Snipers target innocent travelers on deserted highways. Corpses sag from the windows of shattered buses. Macabre scenes such as these characterize how Israel is portrayed in the global media. Believing that danger lurks around every corner, much of humanity trembles at the thought of setting foot in the Holy Land. Such images—internalized by many millions as reflections of reality—allude to the real legal and political threats with which Israel has grappled since its birth.
By contrast, wondrous relics of ancient civilization coexist alongside imposing constructs of the modern world. Bustling modern cities like Tel-Aviv and Haifa boast sleek contemporary architecture, exceptional restaurants, and vibrant art scenes. In reality, Israel is both beautiful and complex. Its people advance a sense of purpose, camaraderie, and a deep love of country almost unparalleled beyond its borders. As an Israeli-American, my image of Israel starkly contrasts with media reports. I recognize that Israel faces myriad challenges—yet what looms greatest in my mind is its intrepid achievements, which are the foremost inspirations of my life.
