My Impact on My Surroundings
Won't you be my neighbor?'' was the signature catchphrase of Fred Rogers, the creator and host of Mister Rogers Neighborhood. What kind of neighbor will you be in our undergraduate community at Dartmouth? What impact have you had on the neighbors in your life? (250-300 words)
Having a positive, caring impact on people is a priority in my life, and I pride myself on being friendly and approachable, no matter the situation. These traits are important not just socially, but also in team environments. I believe that in order to be a productive team, a bond should exist between team members, and I strive to create that cohesion. This ability to bring others together to accomplish a task is something I value.My focus on teamwork extends to all areas of my life. In theatre, to ensure a successful show, cast members must have chemistry, which can be created through bonding. In hockey, teamwork is even more critical, because one player, no matter how skilled, cannot win a game on their own. The value of teamwork is apparent across many disciplines, and I love being able to promote it with my friendly disposition and leadership. Naturally, my outgoing nature is a social benefit as well. As a freshman, I looked up to the seniors-- especially those who took time to interact with me and make me feel welcome at a new school.
