English: My Favorite Subject
What is your favorite academic subject?
I have always had a passion for reading. I was the child that co,uld not be found without a book pressed up against her nose. I was never the biggest, strongest, or the most athletically inclined student. With a book in hand I could become anyone I wanted to be, there were no limits to my abilities. To me, every day was a new adventure. As a small child, I could become a fearless pirate, a beautiful mermaid, or a terrifying giant barging through the clouds. (This was a favorite adventure of mine as I stand just less than five feet tall.) The authors of these titles felt like friends more than narrators.
Recess may have excited the other children in my classes, but I was more likely to find a shady spot and sit with a friend and read. The smell of a library excited me more than the scent of outdoors. I would never skip an opportunity to escape real life, even if it were just for a moment. I believe this appreciation of fictional literature drove me to my love of English.
My fascination with reading literature propelled me to a love of writing as well. I envied the artistry that I found in others’ writings. I wanted to be able to evoke the same emotions into individuals as other authors had done for me time after time. When...
