MBA Aspirations of a Would-be Prime Minister

What makes you a unique and strong candidate for our business school?


My life has not followed the well-planned course I intended while growing up in Canada: a political science degree from Queen’s University, a law degree from Osgoode Hall, becoming the youngest person ever elected to the House of Commons and ascending to Prime Minister by the age of 45. That plan got derailed when I transferred to Brigham Young University for my sophomore year and started a marketing company shortly thereafter.

Though I still consider what might have been had I sought the Prime Minister’s office, I feel extremely fortunate for the career and business opportunities that have come my way. I have always known the time would come to trade my pursuit of a law degree for an MBA. I have been a professional marketer since 1999. During the past 18 years I have directed global PR for a multinational software company, headed Wall Street PR for a billion-dollar publicly traded company, built and sold one marketing agency and tripled the size of another. I have built fledgling Utah brands into great companies and helped household names like Google, Netflix and Adobe with their needs.
