Blogging as My Creative Side

Every person has a creative side, and it can be expressed in many ways: problem-solving, original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how you express your creative side.


As I finished reading the last page of “We Need to Talk About Kevin” by Lionel Shriver, my first thought was, “I can’t wait to review this on my blog.”

I started my blog in the summer before sophomore year, when I’d moved from India to Singapore. I had a four-month summer, not a lot of friends in a new country, and a huge stack of books I’d purchased on impulse because I found the covers pretty. An avid reader from the age of three, I was more than happy to spend my weeks in a library drinking a Starbucks frappuccino as I let myself be riveted by the mystery of “Gone Girl”. But it was only so long before my urge to discuss the books I was reading took me over. When my mother gave me the idea to start a book blog, I was ecstatic. Having my own little corner on the internet to rave about my love for books seemed fitting, and I was filled with excitement at the thought of gushing over my favourite books with other readers.

My blog started simply as a way to express and share my love for books. As my followers grew in numbers, I began interacting with hundreds of people from around the world who appreciate literature just as much as I do. I read a new book each day and had a review ready the next, and slowly even began to diversify...
