University of Notre Dame
Tradition
What excites you about the University of Notre Dame that makes it stand out from other institutions?
Tradition! From The Shirt to the senior section marshmallow toss to much much more, traditions make Notre Dame unique. But more than that, these traditions give Notre Dame a community feel, both large and small. Whether you are helping your friend do pushups in the crowd during a football game or praying at the Grotto, you feel like you are a part of the whole Notre Dame community. These traditions help unite the student body and make Notre Dame an alive and energized campus.
However, there are also traditions at Notre Dame that help unite smaller communities. For example, each residence hall carries its own customs and history. This allows each hall to have a family feel that can only be found just a few dorm rooms away. Also, the intra-hall competitions and bonds you form with your dorm mates will help Notre Dame feel like a second home. All of these traditions, both large and small, help create a tight knit community on campus, one that can support you and help you to grow throughout your years at Notre Dame.
