Solo Performances Hung Quoc Nguyen

I plugged in my earbuds, carefully looking to both sides of me as I ambled down the narrow hallway of Corona del Sol. Upon realizing that I was alone, I burst into singing — completely forgetting my world as I giddily cavorted my way to class.

I love singing. I would sing everywhere, anytime — in my shower, in my car, on my way to class, and sometimes to my teacher’s dismay — even in a study hall.

At home, I find myself singing my heart out in the shower, passionately serenading to my shampoos with “All of Me” by John Legend. My mind drifts freely along with the streaming water, allowing me to sift through tomorrow’s tasks and irritating stress. I’d find myself at lunch, jamming to “Fire” by BTS with my friends — to the point of getting weird looks from the nearby tables (they probably thought we were crazy.) I’d find myself daydreaming on my way to class as I listen and sing the bubbly, sparkling lyrics of “We Could Be” by AJ Rafael. I dream of my success. I dream of falling in love with a girl. I dream of “derping” around with my friends after school. I dream of empowering and inspiring others through my singing.
