Artemis Fowl II
Artemis Fowl II is the main character in the Artemis Fowl series, and he is the son of Artemis Fowl I. Artemis is a young criminal mastermind and is thirteen years old during the events of Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code. Artemis Fowl I was captured by the Russian Mafia and Artemis Fowl II’s mother goes mad. Artemis Fowl II then takes it upon himself to continues his family’s legacy and restore his family’s fortune.
Artemis is described as a socially awkward person which is why he doesn’t have many friends, though his genius overshadows his social faults. He has dark hair, blue eyes, pale skin, and is thin and tall.
Domovoi Butler
Domovoi Butler, who is usually referred to only by his surname, is one of the only people Fowl trusts with his life, which is why he is both his assistant and his bodyguard. In The Eternity Code, Butler dies but is then revived by Holly Short. Butler has a little sister named Juliet Butler. He has a lot of knowledge of the black market and underworld as well as being skilled and armed with martial arts.
Holly Short
Holly Short is not a part of Artemis’ crew, but she is a reappearing character throughout the series. Short is an elf, which means that she has pointy ears and is a part of the faery world. She is independent and strong willed, as she is the first female Captain of the LEPrecon. She is one meter tall and has hazel eyes and brown skin. Holly and Artemis begin forming a relationship, though it is uncertain who likes each other the most. The ending of the series leaves their relationship open, which lets the reader imagine what they expect and hope.
Jon Spiro
Jon Spiro is the main villain of Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code. He is an American billionaire who runs an IT company called 'Fission Chips.' He meets with Artemis and Butler in chapter one to discuss a business transaction but instead steals the technology. He is portrayed as arrogant and bad tempered and forms a rivalry with Artemis as they attempt to out maneuver each other throughout the book.
Foaly
Foaly is a centaur IT consultant for the Lower Elements Police. His technology is considered impressive even by Artemis. Even though he has been forbidden from doing so by his commanding officer Foaly assists Artemis and Holly in their heist by hacking into Jon Spiro's computers.
Commander Julius Root
Julius Root is the Lower Elements Police commander that both Holly and Foaly report to. Though he is respected by the entire department, he is known for having an explosive tempter. His coworkers have a secret bet on how long he will live because of his excessive smoking of cigars and high blood pressure.
Arno Blunt
Arno Blunt is Jon Spiro's personal bodyguard with a brutal reputation. He is known for being ruthless and dangerous, but unprofessional. He shoots Butler during their first encounter and believes that he has killed him. Throughout the book, Artemis is able to get in his head by taunting him with the idea that Butler is alive and coming for him. In the end, Arno is arrested but unless he confesses, the police will have no choice but to let him go. Artemis concocts a plan to get Butler into his cell without being seen on camera's and appear to Arno, pretending to be a ghost. After this encounter, Arno is so terrified that he confesses to all of the charges against him and testifies against his boss.
Mulch Diggums
Mulch Diggums is a kleptomaniac dwarf who is on the run from the LEprecon. He had appeared in previous books but always managed to slip away before Holly could arrest him. Dwarves have a unique ability to tunnel quickly deep underground. Artemis enlists his help for their heist.
