The Life We Live
In the poem "The Life We Live," Arun Kamble throws light upon the contradictory lives of Dalits and upper-class. The poet says that if the upper-class lived the kind of life Dalits lived, the poetry will arise from within the social elite. The poet describes the plight of Dalits as compared to the upper-class people.
Which Language Should I Speak?
In this poem, the poet explains that he was fighting a constant battle of choosing which language he should speak. His tradition asks him to speak their language which is, perhaps, foul and abusive and his Brahmin teacher asks him to pick the language from Vedas and speak correctly. The two languages are contradictory, and the poet asks the reader which language he should speak.
