Biography of Carlo Collodi

Carlo Collodi (the pen name of Carlo Lorenzini) was an Italian author, political commentator, and journalist.

Born in Florence, Collodi began his career as a journalist, writing for and publishing several newspapers. In the 1860, he adopted his pseudonym (based on his seamstress mother's hometown, Collodi) in a publication that outlined his political vision for Italy.

In the 1870s, Collodi turned away from political writing and began writing books and stories for children. His most famous work, The Adventures of Pinocchio, was an instant success. The fairy-tale novel has been translated into many languages, adapted into films and other media, and remains a beloved classic of children's literature.
