Bad Dreams Irony

Bad Dreams Irony

"Bad Dreams"

In the short story "Bad Dreams," the child thinks that she understands the adult world, but her child-like innocence skews her comprehension.

Change

Many of the characters in the short collection oftentimes want nothing more than to change. However, when they are given opportunities to change, they oftentimes retreat and don't act on it.

Perception

The way that many of the characters perceive themselves is frequently at odds with the way that others perceive them and who they truly are. In other words, many characters' self-perception doesn't align with reality.

Diaries

In one of the stories, a previous tenant left their old diaries, which contained her deepest thoughts, behind. Typically, people would carry their diaries with them wherever they moved so that no one would have access to their deepest thoughts. The previous tenant did not.
